What is the HR Mediation Academy?
The HR Mediation Academy is a specialized division of John Ford and Associates. It provides knowledge and skill-development opportunities aimed at supporting HR professionals who want to mediate workplace conflict themselves. In order to accomplish this, we offer both face-to-face and online training. Our vision is peace at work. Our mission is training HR professionals to mediate.
What programs are offered?
We offer live mediation workshops, online training, and personalized one on one coaching.
Currently live mediation workshops are offered through UC Berkeley Extension’s HR Certificate program and through the Northern California Human Resource Association in San Francisco. A three day open enrollment live mediation option, Mediation Mastery for the HR Professional will be available soon.
Two options are now available online:
a) Through the self-study version of Mediation Fundamentals for the HR Professional (Self Study), you gain access to all the instructional materials online that allows completion through independent study on your own.
b) The 10 week coaching version of Mediation Fundamentals for the HR Professional (Guided Coaching), gives you access to the same online material for the self-study version, and in addition includes 10 weeks of coaching and guidance through moderated online discussions, group webinars and mediation practice. This course is offered through an open enrollment track three times a year: January, April and July. It is also offered privately for groups of employees from one organization.
ONE ON ONE COACHING
Each year we accept, by reservation and through custom negotiation, a few graduates of either the Fundamentals or Mastery programs, to be personally coached by John Ford. The focus is on taking your mediation skills to the next level and addressing real life challenges successfully.
How much do they cost?
The Mediation Fundamentals for the HR Professional (Self Directed Study) costs $297.00.
The Mediation Fundamentals for the HR Professional (Guided Coaching) costs $697.00.
The Mediation Mastery for the HR Professional live 3 day workshop costs $1497.00.
The Mediation Fundamentals for the HR Professional (Private Organizational Cohort) for an organizational cohort of between 6 and 24 participants costs $12, 970. 00.
One on one Coaching includes access to all the above courses and a customized contract is negotiated with each qualified student.

Has any educational organization ever evaluated the curriculum?
I teach a 16 hour Mastering Workplace Mediation seminar for the Northern California Human Resource Association. Based on that I developed a 30 hour curriculum to teach Internal Workplace Mediation for the HR Professional at U. C. Berkeley Extension. It has been approved by the HR Certification Institute:

The curriculum for courses provided by the HR Mediation Academy are based the curriculum I use to teach at U. C. Berkeley extension.
Does the HR Mediation Academy issue a certificate of completion?
Yes. Participants of 10 week guided Mediation Fundamentals for the HR Professional are provided with a certification of completion at the end. A fun online quiz is offered to establish your engagement for those that take the self-directed Fundamentals of Mediation course.
How do I schedule an organizational cohort?

When are the 10 week open enrollment classes offered?
Open enrollment classes start in January, April and July each year.
Organizational cohort tracks can be booked at mutually suitable times from January to August each year.
